St George’s Crypt has been providing care and support for homeless, vulnerable and disadvantaged people since 1930. Don Robins first opened the doors of the Crypt to alleviate the considerable distress of many people who found themselves with next to nothing as a result of the depression.
St George’s Crypt has been awarded 5 stars for a food hygiene inspection. A lot of work has been done to ensure that the safe storage and processing of food is implemented at all times and we are thrilled to have this certificate. We are very grateful to all the staff and volunteers who made this happen.
Food is served to over 100 men and women throughout the day who access our services. Breakfast is served to the residents, a 3 course meal is provided at lunchtime and an evening meal is provided for those who are homeless and those who have a bed space at the Crypt.
St George’s Crypt is very thankful for the kind donations of food that is received from various sources. It would not be possible to feed these men and women without these donations.

Up to 100 people packed the Assisi Café in the Crypt to witness the licensing of Revd Steve Dye as the Diocesan Chaplain for the Homeless by the Bishop of Ripon and Leeds, John Packer.
