Faith Lodge

Faith Lodge

The refurbishment of Faith Lodge (the Crypt’s “dry” hostel) is producing positive results through the structured programme of skills training and
confidence building which is being operated at the project.

The hostel provides 14 beds for residents who have made a conscious decision to stay off drink and/or drugs permanently.

A key part of the programme is being delivered by an enterprise called Nurture whereby residents are making a wide range of items such as greetings cards, bracelets, flower baskets, bird boxes and jams. Additionally, Nurture is encouraging residents to learn horticulture skills. The residents grow vegetables and plants in a polytunnel in the garden, and also work on an allotment in the city. A number have achieved NVQ certificates in horticulture.

Faith Lodge is seen to be a flagship project and we work very closely with a wide range of agencies both locally and nationally. Homeless Link iis an important example - through them we are part of a nationwide coalition of homelessness charities, prisons and centres for disadvantaged people working with the renowned Eden Project in Cornwall to develop a feature at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show.
